Midwest Track and Field Club Championship
Friday, July 18 - Distance and Field Events | Saturday, July 19 - Sprint Events
Event Description
Situated the week before USATF Junior Nationals, the Midwest Track and Field Club Championship serves as a tune-up for elite athletes and a final meet for all club competitors. Distance/Field and Sprints will be split across two days, and each day will also be divided into an Open session (for all athletes ) and an Invitational session (for each club’s scoring athletes). An approximate time schedule will be posted after entries close on Tuesday, July 15 at 11:59 pm CDT.
The meet is scored across two days to determine the Midwest Club Team Champion for each age group and each gender. We will also combine all boys and girls scores to determine the overall club champion. Only athletes entered into the Invitational sessions can score for the team.
To streamline the meet, we offer competition in three age groups (Youth, Middle School, and High School). Age group participation is determined by the grade each athlete just completed. High school students who have graduated MAY still participate in that age group. Team and individual awards will be given for all age groups and genders.
This meet is the primary fundraiser for the Palatine Pack TFCC club and centers on our three values: fun, fundamentals, and community. Rather than focus just on competition, the event operates as a track and field carnival. To that end, we will have food trucks, community vendors, and track oriented games. Kids can record their 40 yard dash times, measure their broad jump, play Sharks and Minnows, throw the turbo javelin, and much more.
Please contact meet manager Chris Quick at palatinepack@gmail.com or (847) 483-4642 with additional questions and concerns.
Location
The meet is run at Chic Anderson Stadium on the grounds of Palatine High School at 1111 N. Rohlwing Rd., Palatine, IL 60074.
Entries
Cost is $25 per entered athlete, and each athlete can compete in up to four events across the two days. All entries and payments will be processed via Athletic.net. For the Invitational sessions, clubs can enter two athletes per Sprint/Field event and three athletes per Distance event. Only athletes entered in the Invitational sessions can score team points. Athletes may enter both Open and Invitational events as long as they stay within their four event limit.
Unattached athletes will be allowed entry into the meet, but will not figure into team scores. They are eligible for individual awards.
Registration opens on Monday, June 2. Review our entry procedures HERE.
Age Groups and Awards
Unlike USATF meets, our meet is split into three age groups for ease of scoring and meet management:
Youth - Incoming 6th graders and below
Middle School - Incoming 7th graders through incoming 9th graders
High School - Incoming sophomores through recently graduated seniors
The top five finishers in each age group and gender for both Open and Individual sessions will receive individual medals.
Admission and Facilities
Admission for spectators is by donation of either $5 or a pair of used running shoes. No one will be denied entry due to inability to pay.
All athletes must come dressed to compete. There will be portable restrooms and water onsite, but no changing facilities.
Event Schedule and Scoring
Unless otherwise noted, all events will begin with the High School age group followed by Middle School and Youth age groups. All events will be run with best flights/fastest heats going first. Where practical, age groups will be combined to minimize heats. Results will then be separated by age group and gender for scoring and awards.
All events will be scored to eight places (10, 8, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1) with awards given to five places. Athletes may enter both Open and Invitational events as long as they stay within their four event limit.
